This is lame and unexcusable. He tries to weasel his way out of one issue through his faith community yet, he's unable to apply that same excuse to GLBT discrimination. Does someone need to explain it all to him?

Before we throw this guy under the bus, let us not forget that Christianity in general as practiced by American citizens was used to enslave and persecute Blacks and other minorities.

It's always seemed ironic to me that a group of people would take the very same religion used to justify their slavery and subjugation and not only believe it but use it as a foundation of spiritual strength to win their freedom, then turn and use that very same religion to justify their subjugation of another group of people. We seem to learn so little. So while the Mormons may have been late to the civil rights party, they weren't the only Christians who had to leave another party to get to that one.
