Amazon Pulls Joe King's Anti-Gay Calendar

Amazon has finally pulled Joe King's homophobic calendar. And guess what, King as not happy about it.

He said this on his Facebook page:
"Hoo-we! Hell hath no fury like a he/she scorned... The telephone tree of tantrums is lit up like a Las Vegas marquee for "Boy-Lesque" today with hate mail, threats of boycott and even the risk of Jesus spitting on me for my "Sissy" calendar. I SAID I WAS A SISSY UP FRONT. Ironic who the real bullies are isn't it? Let's see if I get a call from Oprah's people or even Anderson Cooper..."

He added, "The "truth" is that AIDS is an "elective" disease. It STOPS the day guys quit sticking it to each other. And for the tragedy of women and children infected... THAT stops the day their gay husbands and fathers stop cheating on them. Anyone need MORE education, science or funding to understand THAT?"
Oh, get over yourself. You lost, deal with it.

My Recap of my Crazy life 2011

2011 was a whirlwind of a year for me. There were some good times and some bad ones; but in all, I'm a lot better for it. So here is a recap of my life in 2011.
  • I had a great time in Hawaii for my anniversary. My partner and I spent a week just chilling in Waikiki it was wonderful.
  • I decided to take my dreams of being a screenwriter seriously, so I applied to USC Graduate School for Cinema.
  • This blog really opened some doors this year. I was invited to Netroots Nation and met many of our favorite LGBT bloggers, asked to join The Bilerico Project and because one of the Directors of Bent-Con. I also gain more readers and friends too.
  • And speaking of friends, I met a few readers this year in person. It was a blast.
  • I learned that one of my best friends had a serious breakdown. It began in New York and it followed him here. I watched my friend fall apart and I had to send him away. It wasn't easy, but it had to be done. I hope he will get better.
  • I got to travel to Philly, Hawaii, Illinois, NYC and Vegas. Actually, Vegas doesn't count. It's technically in our backyard.
  • I mentioned Bent-Con earlier. It was an event I'm so proud to be a part of. We put together a great event for the LGBT geek community and it's only going to get bigger and better.
  • I finally gained a 1 million hits this year and I'm close to 2 million. And I couldn't have done this without you all. You guys really made this year something and I greatly, greatly appreciate y'all for it.
2011 was an interesting year. I hope 2012 brings more surprises and more developments.

My List of the Best Gay Cultural Moments Of 2011

I've seen some of these 'Gay Cultural' lists and thought "WTF?" Lady Gaga seems to top them all, but I believe there were more substantial things that happened this year.

In no order:
  • The Comic Book world continued to introduce and develop LGBT characters like Kevin Kellor, Bunker in Teen Titans, Voodoo in DC Comics, Wiccan and Hulking in The Young Avengers and Wolverine's son, Daken. In fact, there were more LGBT characters this year than before.
  • We lost more teens to bullying, however our lost inspired more attention to the issue nationally. It even inspired Zachary Quinto to come out.
  • DADT was put to death, completely.
  • Don Lemon comes out. Putting a face to LGBT people of color on television.
  • Chaz Bono on Dancing With The Stars. He brought much needed attention to the Trans community.

This is How 2012 is coming

Newt the Hut would Consider Sarah Palin as his VP

At Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition, Newt the Hut said would consider Moose Mess as a VP. He would also think of her for a Cabinet position too:
She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, she’s somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities. There are also some very important Cabinet positions that she could fill very, very well. I can’t imagine anybody who would do a better job of driving us to an energy solution than Gov. Palin, for example. Tell her that she would certainly be on the list of one of the people we would consider.
Oh Newt, do you really want to put her in your Cabinet? What a joke.

WATCH: The Pilot of '17th Precinct'

This could've been a hit for NBC, but they passed on it. 17th Precinct was created by Ronald D. Moore from 'Battlestar Galactica'. The pilot, in a nutshell, is about a world that runs on magic. It's a little rough, but solid. If you have 45 minutes, take a look and let me know what you think

Ron Paul's Latest Endorsement Advocated the Death Penalty For Gays

This has not been Ron's month. Newsletters,Tea Party freaks and Kelly Clarkson has really made things crazy for him, but this may take the cake.

Rev. Phillip G. Kayser, a pastor at the Dominion Covenant Church in Nebraska publicly endorsed Ron yesterday. But this man has an issue... He wants the death penalty for gays.

See here for the critical statement he made about us:

“Difficulty in implementing Biblical law does not make non-Biblical penology just. But as we have seen, while many homosexuals would be executed, the threat of capital punishment can be restorative. Biblical law would recognize as a matter of justice that even if this law could be enforced today, homosexuals could not be prosecuted for something that was done before.”
But that's not it. TPM contacted Kayser and learned more.
Reached by phone, Kayser confirmed to TPM that he believed in reinstating Biblical punishments for homosexuals — including the death penalty — even if he didn’t see much hope for it happening anytime soon. While he said he and Paul disagree on gay rights, noting that Paul recently voted for repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, he supported the campaign because he believed Paul’s federalist take on the Constitution would allow states more latitude to implement fundamentalist law. Especially since under Kayser’s own interpretation of the Constitution there is no separation of Church and State.
This man is crazy, pure and simple. And Ron's people realized that a little too late. This pic reveals how late Ron's team were.
pic from Box Turtle Bulletin

Earlier they posted a press release on the endorsement, later they removed it. However, the impact of this mess has called Ron onto the carpet.  I hope he says something about this soon.

My Top 6 WIN Moments in Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror in 2011

There some great moments in my favorite genres. There were some storytelling, visuals and a little bit of hotness. See below.

Game of Thrones - This new series delivered and gave us some exciting storytelling... And Jason Momoa.

Trailers - The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises had the most watched videos on YouTube... Ever! This generated much buzz for these epic films coming in 2012.

Cap and Thor - These comic book heroes save the genre this summer, especially after Green Lantern and X-Men didn't meet expectations.

Harry Potter - A perfect ending to a great series.

Doctor Who - This season was one of the best ever. The mysteries of River Song, Amy Pond and the Doctor's death were revealed. And we were left ready for more.

Insidious - This was one of the best Horror films of the year. It was something new and chilling. I want more films like this.

Barnes & Noble Pulls Joe King's Anti-Gay Calendar

After a bunch of emails and calls, Barnes & Noble dropped the anti-gay calendar.

GLAAD reports:
The Calendar is no longer available on Barnes & Noble's website, and a spokesperson for the company told us it has never been available in stores.
Amazon still carries the calendar. Let's get them to get on the right side of the game.

Kelly Clarkson loves her some Ron Paul

Here's Ron Paul's 1st celebrity endorsement, Kelly Clarkson.

On Twitter, Kelly said:
I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t. Ron Paul is about letting people decide, not the government. I am for this.”
Her fans wasn't feeling that and quickly attacked her. So, later on Kelly stated:
“I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all the Republican nominees, he’s my favorite.”
Really, her favorite? This may or may not hurt her CD sales. But it sho ain't helping her image right now.

Bishop Eddie Long's School Shuts Down

Karma continues to bite Eddie in the ass. Now, he is closing down his school... Why in the Hell does he have a school?

The academy, founded by Bishop Eddie Long, informed parents in a letter dated Dec. 22 that the private school's "funding estimates fall far short of our projected needs. It is a very sad occasion, as the NBCA board has made the tough decision to temporarily close the school."

The pre-K-12 school has an enrollment of 221, according to the Georgia Independent School Association, and employs 20 teachers. Just a few years ago, the Lithonia academy boasted of having one teacher for every eight students.

Calls to the GISA office Wednesday were not returned.

"We have operated New Birth Christian Academy for several years with substantial deficits in hopes that the national economic climate would change, however, that change never materialized," said to the letter signed by Carlton Donald, the board's vice chair.
Tuition for this school starts from $5,253 for church members up to $6,198 for non-members. Seriously? I'm sorry, but you can't get into Harvard of even USC with Eddie's diploma. Child please send you kids to a real school, where the owner won't touch your sons.

Obama and Clinton are the Most Admired for 2011

In a USA Today/Gallup Poll, President Obama top the list of admired men and Hillary Clinton for admired women. Some of the others may surprise you.
Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Sarah Palin, and Condoleezza Rice round out the top five Most Admired women, while the top five Most Admired men also include George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Billy Graham, and Warren Buffett, it said.

Gallup said of the top 10 Most Admired men, four are government leaders (Obama, Clinton, Bush, and Newt Gingrich), three are business leaders (Buffett, Donald Trump, and Bill Gates), and three are religious leaders (Graham, Pope Benedict, and Thomas Monson, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

Of the top 10 Most Admired women, eight are from government roles and two are from television (Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres).
Newt the Hut, Moose Mess and Billy Graham? For real? Interesting and sad to say the least.

Bachmann's Campaign Co-Chairman Endorses Ron Paul

In GOP dramedy news, Bachmann's campaign co-chairman jumps ship and join Ron Paul. Kent Sorenson explained why he went from one sinking ship to another one.
“The decision I am making today is one of the most difficult I have made in my life.  But given what’s at stake for our country, I have decided I must take this action,” Sorenson said in a statement. “Today, I am switching my support from Michele Bachmann to Ron Paul for the 2012 Iowa Caucuses and the presidency of the United States.”

Sorenson, a state senator from Indianola, announced the surprise endorsement from the stage of a Paul event at the the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

The turnabout is a major surprise with just six days remaining before Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses.
I guess Michele will be dropping out soon.

My Top 5 FAIL Moments in Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror in 2011

This year was good for geeks and BAAAD for geeks. We had some ugly setbacks and foolishness in our world. I'm share my top 5 horrible moments.

The Wonder Woman Pilot - For some reason, NBC thought they could take an iconic comic book character and hand her over to a writer with no idea on who WW is. The result? A horrible, HORRIBLE pilot for a possible series. For those who read me, know I was on this like sluts on cocks. And when I saw the pilot, I had to be talked back from the ledge. NBC and DC Comics should've been beaten for that pilot. Beaten with a salted barbwire whip.

The Buffy Reboot - Earlier this year somebody said in some studio, "Let's reboot Buffy, for no ass reason!" The minute that idea was spoke into existence, the geeks revolted. It was considered an abomination, blasphemy in the geek world. Every BTVS cast members was against it and no producer, director or writer wanted to touch it. However, one (semi-unknown) writer did and failed. Now the project is in limbo with S'ym and Magik. I speak for everybody by saying, "Thank GOD!"

Green Lantern - This movie was a fail for 3 reasons: 1. no plot 2. bad CGI and 3. Ryan Reynolds. I know, I know he's cute, but it wasn't enough. The movie went nowhere and failed to capture what most geeks love about the Green Lantern.

Scream 4 - This was an attempt to reboot the series, but all we got was a flawed script and a story that was blah. The movie takes place 10 years later in Woodsboro. Sidney returns and so does the killer or killers. Murders happen and once the truth was revealed, it just went downhill from there. It was good to see Neve Campbell as Sidney, but there was no reason for a fourth movie.

Sucker Punch - Great Hera, this movie was snap mess! It was a 12 year-old boy's wet dream and nightmare rolled into one big ole can of crap. The plot was... What can I say, there was no plot! It was about a girl who could dance, well, it was about female empowerment; no, it was about ninjas and monsters... See? It was a bouillabaisse ideas that just didn't come together. It was a complete and utter FAIL. And waste of time during my Hawaii vacation.

Rev. Mark Harris was a 'Civil' Marriage Debate in North Carolina

The Leader of the Hate Crusade in North Carolina thinks it would great if they had a civil debate over marriage.
The Rev. Mark Harris, president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, told The Charlotte Observer he understands the question is an emotional one.

But Harris said he thinks both sides can respectfully argue their cases.

Harris was elected to a one-year term last month. The convention represents roughly 4,300 churches and some 1.3 million members in North Carolina.Voters will decide in May whether the state constitution should be amended to ban same-sex marriage. Not all Christian leaders are in favor of the idea.
Interesting, he thinks a nice little debate should happen. Sure, let's debate about discrimination and hate. Let's talk about how people's rights should be voted on and possibly taken away.

Yeah Mark, let's see how that this debate will be 'civil'.

Why is this Mess of a Calendar on sale at Barnes & Noble and Amazon?

A reader just alerted me about this mess on sale on Amazon; and as you can see it's not cute. The creator of this foolishness is Joe King.

Joe King has an interesting background and enjoys the attention. You can look at his other work if you want to.

However, I think Amazon and B&N should know that this mess is NOT okay with the LGBT community.

Thanks for the head-up, Shawn McCormick.

'Taylor Lautner is Not Gay'... Take 2

Folks won't let this poor boy be. Yesterday, a fake People Magazine cover popped up on the web, causing a mini frenzy.

But if you looked close enough, you could tell it was fake. However, that didn't stop Twitter from blowing up. Taylor was a worldwide trending topic!

Later on, it was revealed to be fake. I hope that if he closes out, he will do in style and on TV.

Did You Know that Jennifer Hudson was almost Precious?

This is a shocker. I just read that Jennifer Hudson was offered the role of Precious. And she turned it down!

Here's the story:

Following her win for Best Supporting Actress for the 2006 film "Dreamgirls," the American Idol winner says that she asked by director Lee Daniels to read for the title part in the film "Precious." The role, an abused and overweight daughter, was appealing, but the physical strain it present was not.

"I had done that with Effie... and as much as I was moved by this film," Hudson writes in her new book, "I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down" (via Uptown Magazine). "I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight."
Wow, I wonder if the film would have worked with Jennifer. I think she would've done a good job. What do you think?

Hey Texas, You pay for 'Jethro' Perry's High Priced Security

Texas Taxpayers, Rick 'Jethro' Perry is taking y'all for a ride... For real. He is using taxpayers' money to fund the high life for his security.
His state-provided security guards were flying pretty high, too, spending more than $32,000 in taxpayer money for travel and lodging in San Francisco, $4,400 to dine near the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum in Simi Valley, and another $6,400 for plane tickets to San Diego, records show.
In the ensuing weeks, Perry would see his political fortunes plummet, falling to as low as 6 percent in public opinion polls from a high of 32 percent. But the bills for his omnipresent security detail continue, costing taxpayers as much as $400,000 a month.

Aside from President Obama, Perry — the only sitting governor in the 2012 race — has the largest security contingent, and apparently the only one on the Republican side financed by taxpayers.
Weeks before he officially announced his presidential bid, Perry said it was appropriate for the Texas Department of Public Safety to pay for his security and called any criticism of his government-provided protection a “diversion.” He also said that Texans would benefit from his travels.
Alright Texans, I would love to hear how this is benefiting you all.

READ: The 'NEW' Munsters Character Bios

The character bios of the new 'Munsters' are leaking on the web and I have them for your pleasure. Check them out:
Herman Munster
Think Dawson Leery’s compassionate, all-supportive dad (from ”Dawson’s Creek”) crossed with Frankenstein’s monster. Was created by Grandpa; no other man, besides one he puts together, would of course be good enough for his daughter Lily.
Doesn’t much look like Fred Gwynne’s Frankenstein-looking fellow from the original. This Herman is more of a stud – albeit one with scars. He’s a skinny, but rather attractive man in his ’30s – though he’s stitched together from the body parts of other men and has a mechanical steampunk heart – one that is breaking down.

Eddie Munster
The first – and he’s seemingly the most central character – of the Munsters we’re introduced to.  Much like Michael J.Fox’s character in ”Teen Wolf” he’s about to discover he’s got quite the howl- – only he’s terrified beyond belief at what that means (he’s frightened enough of puberty!).  Though the Munsters have moved to Mockingbird Heights because Eddie attacked his fellow boy scouts at a camp, he doesn’t have any recollection of the event and has been told a baby bear attacked his friends. Eventually Herman is forced to tell Eddie what he does, as the request of Grandpa but dad’s determined to remind him – just as his mother will – that he’s not a monster.  Young Eddie ultimately decides to be a vegetarian monster when he can help it, and when he can’t… his dad says they’ll figure it out together. Awww.

Grandpa Munster
Think ‘Grandpa’ from “The Lost Boys” mixed with Lestat.
Scary son of a gun.  A I said, he, and the rest of the clan, arrive by delivery truck.  His crate topples over, a mass of rats spill out and join to form. An old-codger vampire that, for the past ten years, has been feeding on animals so young that Eddie doesn’t think anything’s ‘different’ about his family. This scary old fellow feeds on animals like Lions but, not surprisingly, is starting to hunger human blood.  And with Eddie now “in the family way”, he feels okay about that.  Grandpa knows he’s going to start eating humans again, suggesting he’s gobbled his way through a few in the past, and has enough love for Marilyn (who he saved from her mother, he says) to recommend she go to college on the other side of America. She’s safer there.

Lily Munster
Think the mysterious Selina Kyle meets “Friday Night Lights” momma Julie Taylor.
Perpetually beautiful. Pale. Sweet. Her crate begins as a pool of spiders before transforming into the tall, slender matriarch of the family.  Like his father, Eddie’s mum ultimately teaches him the “difference between being a Munster and being a Monster”.
She works at a pet store where she uses her magic to, for instance, trick the dogs into cleaning their own cages. Loves her family dearly, and doesn’t want Herman to find a new heart because his current one belonged to Eddie’s biological father.

Marilyn Munster
The human component of the family. Sweet, attractive young girl who – for obvious reasons – is pretty much the face of the family. Seems completely OK with Grandpa eating animals and people, recognizing his vampirism as a curse not something he chose, and is keen to help werewolf Eddie realize he’s not a bad person for having to feed off animals.
Look for it in 2012.
